Ammonia from animal manure leads to global warming and air pollution through eutrophication, ecosystem acidification, and the creation of delicate particulate matter (PM2.5). ARAM (Ammonia Recovery from Animal Manure) project explores the feasibility of extracting and recycling ammonia from animal waste. This includes assessing farm sizes and locations in Ireland to identify the primary sources of agricultural ammonia, followed by developing a process model to consider costs and applicability and fine-tune the best technologies and combinations for ammonia recovery.
