Hydrogen offers a promising alternative to fossil fuels for clean energy, but several technical and cost challenges exist for hydrogen technologies. These challenges are also countered by significant opportunities in the long term. Therefore, hydrogen technology deployment should be assessed with a long-term view, considering net-zero carbon emissions goals, technology advancements and cost reductions.
In this context, my research involves examining the potential role of hydrogen production, storage, transportation and utilisation technologies in facilitating the substitution of fossil fuels with hydrogen in the future energy mix. The study aims to add value to investment decisions and to develop long-term strategies for the effective integration of green hydrogen technologies into energy systems, to achieve decarbonisation.
